Opposite Words, Dance Time, and a New Month from Kokubunji Preschool

For the month of January, we have been learning about opposite words, like laugh, cry, break, mend, old, young, big, small, open, and close. We ask the question, “What are you doing?” Then, our teacher shows us the card, and if we say what the card is first, we get the card. It’s a really fun and we enjoy many variations of the game. ❤️‍

After we finish our morning stretch and talking about the weather, we have dance time! We do songs like, “Move Move Move,” where we raise our hands, turn around, wiggle our fingers, and touch either our head, shoulders, knees, or toes. We love to sing along with the song, and do the dance moves. We also use the time to practice our graduation song. More to come on that in the coming weeks. ‍♀️‍♀️

In the middle of the week, we welcomed in a new month, February! And we celebrated the Japanese festival, Setsubun, by enjoying the morning in the park with the kindergartners. One of our teachers put on a mask, pretending he was an evil spirit, and we threw beans at him to drive the evil away. Some of us were scared by the mask, but other classmates cheered us up, letting us know there wasn’t anything to be afraid of. And once the evil was gone, we cleaned up the beans, and then played on the playground. We love climbing up the ladders, or taking the stairs, to go down the slides or crawl through the tunnel. ❤️
